Downtown Hype

Downtown LA seems to have all the hype lately. I noticed there are new buildings and more in construction. I also hear new restaurants and hotels are opening up. The LA Marathon is being held this Monday. If you like crowds then I guess this is the place to be. I think I will need to explore it more to get a good feel of what is going on down there.

  1. I agree! With the Staples Center, the Nokia Theatre and LA Live dining/hotel complex right at Olympic and 11th, downtown is burgeoning with activities. Not to mention all the condos and lofts built and still being built. The good news is for buyers looking at downtown residence - reflecting the current market housing values like most other neighborhoods, one can buy a place for pretty affordable pricing. A friend's place at 7th and Spring (a 1-bedroom condo) is valued at $235K if he were to list it on the market today.
Downside? Parking for downtown, especially during event nights (blame the Lakers or concerts at Staples) is still on the high side. And if you are not close to the Olympic & 11th street hubub, most niches in DT are still on the quiet side after 8 pm.
